Alignment between the business needs and technology is often discussed but in most
cases never realized. This blueprint engagement ensures the BI application to be
worked on addresses the issues faced by the business community.
This critical process involves:
- analysis and documentation of business strategies established by the organisation's
executives
- associate organization units contributing to the attainment of the strategies
- identify and prioritise business objectives established by the business units to
support the attainment of the strategies
- document measurements of success employed by the organisation units
(These strategies, objectives and measurements are collectively called “business
drivers”.)
From this analysis, business focus is established for the data warehouse, data mart,
or specific BI solution - they will be designed to concentrate on the most important
business objectives within scope and on information that provides decision-making
support for the attainment of those objectives.
